Drive. We are currently diving into the book of James,

a little letter contained in the back of the New Testament section of the Bible.

You can read the whole thing in about 15 minutes, and I hope you do,

but it's going to take us about 15 episodes or more to get through it

because there's so much great practical stuff about you and me,

living with an authentic faith.

Now again, James is the brother of Jesus, same mom, different dads, and after the resurrection

of Jesus from the dead, James finally goes all in with his faith, and he becomes one of the

main leaders in the early church of Jerusalem.

And the main reason for writing this letter was to encourage these new Jesus followers

who were going through some really, really hard times. He writes to them and to us telling us not to

give up, but to persevere, to consider it pure joy when we go through hard things because we know

that God is doing some good stuff on the inside of us. He's refining our character like priceless gold.

We read yesterday how he tells us to ask God for wisdom. He says, our father wants to give it to anybody.

It's there for the asking. And then he adds that when we ask, don't view God as one of the many options you have.

But ask him with an all-in kind of trust in him.
