I know it is so normal for us as humans to wish that we could change this or that about ourselves and think,

if only this were different, if only that were different, if only I had this personality or this or that,

yet in the middle of this, we have this prayer that I believe is going to have the power

to change our mindset about who we are and leave us feeling so grateful that we are the way that we are.

Psalm 139 and verse 14 declares,

I will praise you God, for I know I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works.

And this, my soul, knows very well. Do you want to live a life where you believe this about yourself, where you can look at yourself in the mirror and smile and say,

ah, God, wonderful are your works. You made me wonderfully.

And my soul knows this.

My brain knows this.

My emotions know this.

I know that I have been made wonderfully because your works are marvelous.

That is the kind of life that God wants us to live.

And so to start that out, we are going to thank God. We're going to praise Him. We are going to give honor to him for some very specific ways of creating us the way that he did.

Do you know he could have made you any way he wanted to?

That he personally fashioned you and designed you and sculpted you and formed you.

So with that in mind, first of all, will you thank God for giving you your personality?

Next, will you thank God for giving you the specific, unique giftings and abilities that He has given to you? Now thank God for your body type and your height and the specific size that he made you.

Thank God for your culture and your ethnic heritage.

He specifically chose that you would be born and raised with that specific environment in mind. Now will you thank God for making you the gender that he made you?

And finally, will you thank him for giving you the emotional disposition that you have?
