Turn with me, please, to two openings this morning, Philippians the third chapter, and Hebrews 12.

We began some weeks ago on a series we're calling perfection through correction.

And we see it in the scriptures so clearly the further we go, and it's an exciting thing.

It's a wonderful thing, although many have not thought so.

And that's only because they didn't understand it.

But in Philippians 3 in verse 12, Philippians 312, Paul says,

not as though I had already attained,

either were already perfect,

but I follow after,

if that I may apprehend,

that for which also I am apprehended of Christ.

Some translators say, instead apprehend attained or reached.

And you see that later in the same passage here.

Verse 13, brother, I count not myself to have apprehended or to have arrived, we'd probably say today. I don't count myself to have

arrived. Arrived at what? Well, he said at perfection. But this one thing I do for getting

those things which are behind and reaching forth into those things which are before, I

press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God

in Christ Jesus.

Verse 15, let us therefore as many as be perfect, be thus minded, and if anything you'll be

otherwise minded, God will reveal even this unto you

in other words he'll correct you if you're thinking wrong about it he'll show you so he's talking

about perfection and being perfect and in modern usage of that word,
