For most of the last two decades, the Coca-Cola company has enjoyed its role as the biggest U.S. beverage company by market value.

Coke's held that spot since 2006, except for a single day in 2020 when PepsiCo's value eclipsed Coca-Cola's.

At the time, it seemed like a glitch. But these days,

there's reason to believe it wasn't a glitch after all, because a handful of Wall Street

analysts have determined that PepsiCo is on course to overtake Coca-Cola once again,

and this time perhaps for good. Analyst Kamal Guadjuwala at Jeffries has called PepsiCo the sector's, quote, most durable

business, end quote.

He predicts shares will rise more than 20% over the next year, which would push PepsiCo's

market value to $279 billion.
