So I not only had an opportunity to get into your book,

but to also listen to a number of other interviews you've done most recently on the book,

and I have come to the conclusion in my prep this morning, that I would like this to differ from those. And so far, it's more

of an applied Slobodian. Okay. And the way that we talk about applied math or other

applied sciences, that I want to start obviously with a conversation about your ideas, but then

to talk about them more specifically in the context of our current political moment.

We had a guest maybe a month or so ago, I need to say Chan, who had written this book,

predatory data, that's subtitled eugenics and big tech in our fight for an independent
