Summary

After Greg's quick celebration of Michigan winning college football's national championship and Jim explaining his efforts to acclimate to Iowa's cold and snow, they serve up good, bad, and crazy martinis.

First, they welcome the National Park Service reversing plans to remove a statue of Pennsylvania founder William Penn from Welcome Park in Philadelphia. They note how the left now seeks to erase figures from history who had nothing to do with the confederacy but also why this terrible plan got reversed too quickly.

They also react to a Semafor story explaining how the Biden campaign is summoning reporters to explain how their stories have "fallen short" in coverage of Biden and in covering stories about Trump that they think would be most damaging.

Finally, they're not at all surprised to hear rumblings from Biden allies that the president should not dignify an opponent like Trump by appearing on a debate stage with him during the general election campaign.

Three Martini's coming up.

0:11.6

Hey, really glad you're with us for the Tuesday edition of the Three Martini lunch.

0:16.0

This is a glorious Tuesday if you're a fan of the Michigan Wolverines football team getting the job done last night in the national championship.

0:23.6

I'll spare you all the fight song. I know everybody who listens is not a Michigan

0:27.5

fan but Jim what I will say briefly is that there were several key factors to winning the national

0:34.4

championship one was a defensive plan that stopped one of the most high octane

0:38.2

offenses in the country a powerful running game which was effective when it needed to be to get the job done.

0:44.8

But most importantly, my 1998 Rose Bowl shirt from after the 1997 season, which was the last time

0:51.7

the Wolverines won the national championship, had been a bad luck charm for every big game until this season, so I didn't wear it for the Ohio State game, for the playoff game against Alabama, the big 10 championship game or yesterday.

1:05.7

So I didn't win it but I made sure they didn't lose it as a result of my t-shirt so that's critical.

1:11.1

Greg what's it like to have your team win the championship?

1:14.0

You know, I got a little spoiled in the 90s with the Bulls and then I went on a pretty long

1:19.5

drought until the Cubs won in 2016. It feels good, Jim.

1:23.1

Feels real, real good.

1:24.2

It does.

1:24.8

I'm a very casual Yankees fan,

1:26.9

and that is kind of the opposite of our usual, you know,

1:30.4

NFL team misery.

1:32.4

When you're a Yankees fan, you don't even pay attention to the

1:34.4

post season. The regular season just preseason, that's just warm up and prep. And
