This is Philosophy versus Improv, where two sages try to teach each other a thing or two, and

maybe you, the audience, get something out of it as well.

My name is Bill Arnett, an improv field marshal, yet only a cadet in the world of philosophy.

This is Mark Linser Meyer.

As far as philosophy military rank rank I tend to think that philosophy

transcends the physical in general let alone the marshal but yet I would not want to

pick a fight with an improviser.

Fair enough.

Who knows what improbable thing they have just sitting in their pocket, what manner of

weapon they could just create out of thin air.

Yeah, the power of imagination is pretty, I mean, let's think about the power of intellect

versus the power of imagination, but depending on what kind of philosopher you are, the power of intellect might be along very, very narrow lines.

Sure. I have no idea what you brought in as a topic today, but I got to say this.

There is a school within the

improv community, maybe not a school, but there is a segment of the population.

There's a little bit of child deification, you know, this idea that as a child we have no judgment, we play freely and

we don't judge ourselves, we don't judge others, we have unstoppable imaginations and

wow, isn't that great? Should shouldn't we all be trying to regain

some of that I'm not necessarily in that camp but I wonder in philosophy is there any

child deification this notion of that like somehow children are special humans because of their

Unspoiledness? I'm sure there are several strands of that I was trying to think specifically
