Once upon a time, there lived the Wubaloos, small furry creatures who lived not in the trees, but under them.

They look quite like spider monkeys, except Wubaloos are a bit rounder, shorter, and all grey.

So grey, they're almost white.

The Wubaloos only go out in winter.

They blend in with the snow, which keeps them safe from anyone who might think them dinner.

In the winter months, they would forage for food,

and in the summer, they stayed home under the trees.

In a small city they had built.

It was magical.

A series of tunnels leading to a huge underground room

where all of the Wubalus lived in little cottages

built from twakes and mud.

Peck was just a young Wobaloo.

He lived with his parents and his sister.

He went to school, helped his mother with chores

and learned his father's trade, head forager.

Peck's best friend was called Mimi. They didn't go anywhere or do anything without each other.

Winter was ending, and summer was coming, which meant it was time for the
