We had a real boom of natural pearls, if you like,

because they were a byproduct of the button industry.

So the button industry started,

and then with South Sea pearls mainly,

and also black pearls sort of

black-lipped oysters which come from Tahiti and all that area they were used as buttons and so if

you found a pearl it was serendipity it was like a fluke of nature and the word serendipity comes from

serendip which was the old name for Sri Lanka, which had fantastic pearl beds.

And I was kind of spent hours and days looking at everything you'd ever done and Coco Chanel and that's

where that kind of came from. Did she like pearls? Does she like them, Kim Kardashian? Yeah, she likes

them. And she loved the look. It was Scaborelli in the end and Roseberry that designed the look.
