I am so excited to talk to you because you have a really distinct working knowledge of the For the People

Act and before we get into that can you tell me about the For the People project?

Yeah, so that bill is a transformative structural democracy reform bill. It's obviously

our democracy's problems did not start with Donald Trump but we're facing a lot of big problems,

so we need some big solutions and so that's what this bill does. It has everything from campaign

finance reform to banning partisan gerrymandering, to election security and funding for vote by mail,

all the stuff that lots and lots of people really really like and so it's really really critical

to get it passed this year like this summer so that it's in place ahead of the 2022 midterms

which actually are coming up a lot more quickly than you might think. So especially the provisions

dealing with redrawing congressional maps and redistricting so all of those will be drawn based

on the 2020 census data and so for some states they are required to have those maps drawn as soon

as February of 2022 so you really don't have a lot of time to waste in getting this bill passed
