0:39.5	day five. And I'm going to read the scripture and then Tori's going to pick up with the devotional.
0:44.4	The scripture is 2 Corinthians 1 verses 3 through 5 and it says, all praise to God the Father of
0:52.2	our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us
1:01.0	in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give
1:07.8	them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower
1:14.8	us with his comfort through Christ. That is seriously one of my favorite, favorite verses of all time.
1:21.0	The devotional is titled A Merciful Father and it says, Paul teaches us that in the midst of his
1:27.7	afflictions, the Father of Mercy was revealed to him. When we talk about the Father, the earthly
1:34.8	paternal image comes to mind. But no matter what your dad was like, you need to understand that God
1:41.2	the Father has different facets that relate to us. In difficulty, he is the Father of Mercy.
1:49.6	He presents himself in various ways but in distress, we need to know him as a merciful Father.
1:57.5	God also comforts us through our difficulties. I do not know what your problem is but I do know
2:04.0	about the God of comfort. The comfort you need is in the Father of all consolation and mercy.
2:11.4	Paul learned that afflictions were a part of life and he was no stranger to them. Although they
2:16.9	were never the product of his irresponsibility. There are situations in life where our suffering is due
2:23.7	to the effect of what we do and our irresponsibility. But in the case of Paul, the afflictions that he
