0:57.4	armed militia is now challenging the dominance of Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip. Later in the show,
1:03.5	tensions between Israel and Syria are flaring up again. After rockets were fired into the Golan Heights,
1:09.5	Israel launched air strikes deep into Syrian territory.

1:17.5	There's a rising challenge to Hamas's dominance in the Gaza Strip, and it's not coming from Israel.
1:23.3	It's coming from inside the territory itself.
1:26.4	An armed militia, led by a man named Yasser Abu Shabab,
1:29.9	has begun asserting control in parts of Gaza, particularly in his stronghold of East Rafa.
1:36.5	Now, his group is called Al-Quat al-Shabaea, and they are simply the popular forces.
1:42.7	And just yesterday, the group released a statement declaring that East Rafa had been, quote,
1:46.9	cleansed and was now under its control.
1:50.0	They urged residents to return to their homes, promising them shelter and food.
1:54.9	Now, this group appears to be relatively new.
