Welcome, welcome, and once more, welcome, to episode 257 of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! This week is a very special episode featuring a guest whose name you may not know, but after this you’ll be a huge fan - it’s PC Leon McLeod!
You’ll hear how Pip got to meet Leon in the intro to this episode, and all will be made clear, but as a brief summary Leon was one of the first on the scene at the London Bridge terrorist attacks of 2017. It was a terrifying scene, but Leon is someone who runs on in when people are running away, and therefore exactly the kind of person the force requires. So while this is not your regular star studded Distraction Pieces episode, it’s a very powerful and moving account of a man who ran towards trouble, and has since been dealing with the aftershocks. You’ll also detect that Leon is a painfully humble man when describing the night, but also very open as he goes into the effect it all had on his personal life, so you can expect inspiration from all sides - in how he dealt with the situation the night of, and how he addressed his own trouble thereafter. Some of which was self inflicted, by his own admission, but we are all human beings and absolutely not perfect, especially when dealing with such intense drama, job or not.
