Proverbs 4 verse number 5 and we're going to jump in. If you missed last week, I'm going to give you a little bit of context just so you understand what we're reading and what we're talking about. Nothing drives me crazier than things out of context. So let me just paint a picture of what's happening, who the author is, who is desired audience is, what we're trying to

learn from this and why we are studying the book of Proverbs. I want to encourage you that a

proverb a day keeps the fooling me away. So every day we are reading Proverbs chapter. Today

would be Proverbs 7 for us and tomorrow we'll read Proverbs 8 you could follow along with us

but we're reading these wise words from a man named Solomon the Bible says God says of

Solomon 1st King chapter 3 he says there has never been and there will never be someone more

wise than Solomon Solomon's daddy was a guy named King David.

King David was a man of war.

Solomon is a man of thought.

Solomon gives us in the Bible, we call these the poetic books.

He writes the Song of Solomon, the book of Proverbs, and the book of Ecclesiastes.

Song of Solomon is all about passion.

If you are single, do not read this book.

It's going to make you burn.

It's not good. If you're married, read it today. It's in the Bible. He's like, oh, wow, okay. Wow. Being married's awesome.

Proverbs is a collection of a collection. It's a greatest hits of greatest hits. So Solomon writes the book

of Proverbs and then Ecclesiastes. They say song of Solomon he wrote when he was young and

passionate. Hello, you'll see it. Proverbs, they say he wrote in his prime and Ecclesiastes when he was

old and cynical. You'll read Ecclesiastic like this is depressing he was kind

of depressed okay so but Solomon this is a collection of collection of wise saints now

Solomon took over the kingdom when he was 20 years of age and under his leadership

there was never more peace in Israel and they never had more real estate so under under his leader, he was a man of wisdom,
