This episode takes us behind the scenes of director Ron Howard's new documentary, Poverati,

which examines the life and career of famed opera tenor Luciano Poverati.

Featuring never-before-seen footage, concert performances,

and intimate interviews, the film takes an in-depth look at the lasting legacy of the musical icon affectionately dubbed the People's Tenor. In addition to Pavarotti, Mr. Howard's filmography includes

the feature films Splash, Backdraft, Far and Away,

the Paper, The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and In the Heart of the Sea,

the documentary features The Beatles, eight days a week, the touring years, and Made in America,

and the documentary television series Breakthrough, The Age of Aging.

He won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film in 1996 for

Apollo 13, and again in 2002 for A Beautiful Mind, and was nominated for 1985's Cocoon

and 2008's Frost Nixon. Mr. Howard also serves as the second vice president of the

Guild. Following the documentary series screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles,

Mr. Howard spoke with director Andi Timoner about filming Pavarotti. Listen on for their discussion.
