C-10 Talk, episode 126, Mr. Paul Hitch. Mr. Hitch was the chief engineer of Chevrolet trucks

from 1965 through 1976. He will be 1002 years old. We were designing a new small vehicle to compete with the Ford Bronco.

And we had the design pretty well finished.

And the tooling, the cost of a whole new line of trucks, the tooling was so high that we couldn't amortize our tooling based on the estimated

sales volume.

So I said, well, the cheapest thing we can do is take the pieces we have for the C-10 truck

and shorten the wheelbase to 104 inches and use the cab and forward

and then marry the pickup truck to the rear of the cab, making it one unit.

And he said, well, go ahead and start that.

So that's the way we started the blazer.

Damn, son.
