We got a banger for you today because I spent some time doing some research to kind of make my point about how difficult it is to take a player in the top five or ten at the quarterback position and ensure yourself of success.

I'm going to go through my findings and talk about them with Phil, who is excellent, as good as there is in the market, probably at this juncture, as good as there is in the country, in having reasoned opinions that are buttressed by fact, but also interspersed with passion.

And that's why I like Phil, because I'll go off half-coct.

But the beautiful thing about me being half-coct, I'm intuitively insightful.

And even when Phil tries to bring me around,

I'm probably still right. But before we get to that, I want to say this. Oh, we got Alec Lewis, too, from The Athletic. He will join us to talk about KJ. Osborne, the ad from the Minnesota Vikings.

Before I bring in Phil, I want to read you a little something that I wrote about Elliot Wolf.

I say, hey, Elliot, you're the Patriots de facto GM, but you're on audition. You're a temp. And you just flailed around on the open market and the first wave of free agency. Now you get the third overall pick. How are you going to play this? Safe. You take the quarterback. It buys your time. and then you don't have to worry about something

like Drake May being passed on and then turning into Michael Jordan someplace else.

If you just do what everyone's been saying to do for months and take a quarterback, that's

a safe thing.

You know what takes guts and brains, though?

Admitting your roster situation is so bad, you're not ready to add a quarterback.

You don't have the guts to tell everyone there's no Christmas

because you have to pay the electric and the grocery bills.

Or do you, Elliot?

But I'm going to tell you, trading out takes guts and brains.

If the Patriots want to be the Jets, all they need to do, my friend, is keep on screwing up those quarterbacks.

They got one pelt on the wall already, actively screwing up back Jones.
