Presented by Draft King Sports book on 985 the sports hub yeah look tyquin you know look there's there's you know the fourth and three he was open you know he ran a good

0:34.1

route uh beginning of the game you know there was a third down uh later in the game where you know he didn't win on the route you know, he ran a good route beginning of the game. You know, there was a third down later in the game where, you know, he didn't win on the route. You know, he has not played a lot of football because of injury. And so when you don't play a lot of football, you know, it's hard. And he's got to, you know, continue to work and he will. He's a great guy. He works very, very hard. he just hasn't had a lot of opportunities. And I think I'm not making an excuse for him. I'm just telling you, you know, he hasn't been out on the field a lot, you know, shoulder, you know, whatever it is. He's, he's had a couple injuries over the course of his young career. And he just needs a ton of experience. And that comes on the practice field and obviously in the game.

1:14.3

So, you know, Tyquan works very hard, and I think he'll, you know, be able to do that.

1:22.5

I was Bill O'Brien yesterday during that assistant coach media availability.

1:26.3

And he's talking about Tyekwon Thornton.

1:27.9

But the thing that I find important is that he basically blamed Mack Jones for that first,

1:35.4

missed, fourth, and three.

1:37.4

And that's what he was doing there.

1:39.2

He said, Taekwon was open on fourth and three.

1:41.8

He won that one.

1:43.1

He didn't win the route, you know, the one later, where he did like three little pitter, patter steps and never turned his head in the ball, whistled past his earhole. That's the one, he said he didn't win on that one. But Bill O'Brien put that first, failed fourth and three squarely on Mack Jones there. It was an answer about Thornton, but he put it on Mac Jones.

2:18.7

And apparently this is happening down in Foxborough. He's lost the room. Mac Jones has lost the room. And it felt like this was sort of happening for a time. He lost the defensive side of the ball a while ago, apparently. But now he's losing coaches. He's losing coaches down in Foxborough. Bert Breer was on with us on TV last night,

2:20.2

and he's tapped into this,

2:18.4

and he told us that that the people inside the building that

mac jones is infuriating the people inside the building with his decision making not necessarily

2:31.9

the lack of arm strength or whatever which they know about accept. His decision making is infuriating people inside the building, as if Mac Jones is going to bring them all down. He's going to single-handedly bring them all down. Or maybe he already has. Or he already has. And that's the view of Mac Jones internally. Does that surprise you? No, not at all. because again, this is the Empire striking back. That basically is what it comes down to. You know, Jones makes some crack comments over the weekend about the coaching and the system and not having confidence in it. And now a couple days later, these guys are walking around saying, oh, wait a minute, what? Tyquant Thornton was open on that play. Now, again, I don't know if he ran exactly the route he was supposed to run. I still don't trust him, but I think what's important is that I'm still going to err on the side of vipping Thornton because I think he doesn't know how to play the position. But what's important is that Bill O'Brien playing Mac Jones. Correct. And he was open. So it might not have been in exactly the spot. Because again, we looked at this yesterday when Bedard was here. And, you know, so what I don't know on that kind of play, just as a quick aside, is when you're the quarterback and you see where he is, shouldn't you throw it to where he is versus where he's supposed to be? Well, you know what I mean? Yes, and also if you have time and it's a young receiver who you don't fully trust, you can also hold your water for a half beat for him to get to his spot and then throw. You don't have to throw up before he breaks if you have the time. Exactly. So there's got to be some accountability for Jones on that play. But yes, to your point, Bill O'Brien is, I would say, generally, been pretty straight with how he's assessed Jones thus far. I don't think it's been tilted one way or the other. I think there have been occasions where he's looked at his play and says, you know, Max's got to see this better. He's got to do that better. He actually threw a good ball in this play. My point is, I think he's fairly objective. I don't think he's necessarily tilting it to stroke Jones this year. So if he's saying that Jones effed up there, then that's worthy criticism. He's asked about Tyquan Thornton, and he takes that opportunity to tell us that Jones messed that play up.

4:49.8

Again, Jimmy, if you could just play the beginning of that cut again. I'm sorry, I don't know if you heard. Yeah, look, Taekwon, you know, look, there's, you know, the fourth and three, he was open. You know, he ran a good route beginning of the game, you know. Jones screwed it up. He lets us know that. Brear says that Mac Jones is infuriating people inside the building.
