What's up everybody? Welcome into the next Pats podcast. I'm Phil Perry. We have a treat for you today. It's our good friend Patriots legend three-time Super Bowl champion James White hanging out with us, talking all things, Tray and Henderson.

My favorite pick of this year's draft for the New England Patriots. Yes, I know he's a running back. Yes, I know somewhere in the 30s for a running back. Generally speaking, a little bit early. Patriots got a great player in James White all the way back in the fourth round back in 2014. But to me, when you can make your quarterback's life a little bit easier by giving them that kind of weapon out of the back field,

0:50.3

hitting that easy button in terms of short throws that could potentially turn into really, really long gains or potentially turn into six points,

0:52.6

that to me is a great pick.

0:55.6

And that's exactly what Trayvian Henderson is. So it was great to pick James' brain on all things, not only Henderson, because he covered him as a member of the

1:00.5

Big Ten network, but also that role, that past catching back role specifically in Josh

1:06.2

McDaniel's offense as well. We had an opportunity to watch Henderson in the screen game. We also watched

1:12.3

him as a true running back, though. Elliot Wolf soon after the draft called Trayvian Henderson,

1:18.2

a three-down player. So it's very clear. They view him as somebody who can do a little bit of

1:22.9

everything at that running back position. And so we watch him taking handoffs from under center, from Will Howard at Ohio State,

1:29.5

and they're running duo with double teams at the line of scrimmage.

1:32.2

They're running power with pulling guards and fullbacks leading the way.

1:36.1

These are the kinds of plays that we're going to see again from this Josh McDaniels offense.

1:41.8

That's what I always associate with McDaniels is not only under center.

1:45.8

Of course, we know he could go in the shotgun and spread it out. In 07, they were really the

1:51.3

trailblazers as far as that goes in the pro game. But I'm thinking downhill runs. I'm looking

1:57.8

at guys like Micah Wenow and Morgan Moses, these massive bodies.

2:01.8

You know, even Will Campbell.

2:03.1

You know, he's a great athlete and he could play in any scheme.

2:05.6

But when he gets his hands on you and he drives those legs, he is moving people.

2:10.3

He is displacing bodies in the running game.

2:13.1

And so I think we're going to see more of that downhill type of stuff.
