| 0:03.9 | Today we're breaking down the front seven, the latest mock drafts, and some news from the owners meetings. |
| 0:08.2 | Let's do it. |
| 0:09.1 | With the 31st pick, the New England Patriots. |
| 0:17.1 | Welcome everybody to Patriots Draft Countdown presented by Bud Light. |
| 0:20.7 | Bud Light, easy to drink, easy to enjoy the official beer sponsor of the New England Patriots. And guys, just a few weeks here to go. We're counting down to the draft. Not a ton of news this week, but Ev, let's start with us. We put out our mock drafts. I think they were pretty great, weren't they? I thought I nailed it. I mean, I don't know about you, but, you know, I thought it was pretty good. |
| 0:37.7 | Yeah. |
| 0:38.1 | You know, I took the supposedly if, if the Patriots get A.J. Brown trade route. |
| 0:45.7 | My second one will be if they don't get A.J. Brown in that direction. |
| 0:49.7 | But the more I thought about it, the more I thought it did make some sense to take that tackle there at the top of the first round, whether it's, you know, Morgan Moses' successor, Will Campbell Insurance, whichever way you want to look at it, I do think it makes a little bit of sense there just because of the depth of the positions and you could go find those edge rushers and those guys on day two, early day three, but the tackles, there's a gap, there's a drop off pretty significantly after the first round guys. Yeah, I went with the Edge Paul, and we talk in this episode here today, we got a giant, we're talking defensive tackles, defensive ends, as well as linebackers, all kind of positions in the need that we could probably consider for the Patriots maybe. Yeah, Edge to me is at the top of the list. I really want a wide receiver too, but in terms of probably the biggest need on the roster would be on the edge. And, you know, stay tuned because we're going to get a lot of guys mentioned and a lot of guys, you know, Evan is going to go into great detail on, but it is a pretty deep class. And I think that's, that's exciting when, when the needs sort of line up with the availability. Yeah, well, we have, Chris and Matisse are going to break down Evan and I's mock drafts. Hopefully you'll be, we reviewed both your drafts and we each did a three-round mock. But both had different philosophies, but both were interesting. So we reviewed both your guys. We did a three-round mock. What was your philosophy and your three-round mock? I was closer to you, Deuce. I don't want to spoil it, but let's just say Chris had a sleeper pick coming at the second round, which I thought was interesting. So you'll probably talk about it more on the front seven section. He tried to do that, didn't it? |
| 2:33.5 | Well, last just a little bit of news, have we heard from Mike Frable down at the owners meetings. We talked to Mike Frable. Again, mentioned the tight end group. So I think we all need to, if you're watching this show, you've got to be aware of this tight end group. It seems like he loves them. He wants all of them, apparently. |
| 2:34.9 | Yeah, he wants all the tight ends. |
| 3:08.2 | He said he'd take nine if he could out of 11 picks. So go do a mock draft now of just tight ends through all 11 picks that they have in the draft, and he might get it at get it right. I yeah, look, it's a great group. You know, we all know Kenyon Saddique is the number one guy there at the top. And then there's a cluster of players on day two. And then there's another mini cluster in early day three. And I think that's going to be the toughest part is, you know, it's like going to the ice cream shop and picking your favorite flavor of tight end here. but not all of them are going to be good. |
| 3:25.2 | So you got to get it right. You know, you got to pick the right one. So that's going to be the toughest part I think for them. And that's what Ray will mention, you know, there's some guys, I'll just put names to it. Eli Stowers, more of like a receiving tight end. You know, Sam Roush has the size and the blocking ability. and like which one do you gravitate towards is going to ultimately decide which one they take. So it's very good to sit here and say, oh, well, take the one that's good at everything. Well, that's Tyler Warren and he goes in the top 10, right? I think he was fringe top 10. So like those guys go high. You know, Kenyon and Sadiq is going to go high because he |
| 3:41.2 | does a little bit of everything well. The guys that are going to be lower in the draft are going to |
| 3:45.4 | have specialties. And it's just a matter which specialty you want to take. All right. Well, we're going to have a full show about the tight ends in a couple weeks, Paul. We'll get all into that. But first here in this episode, jam-packed, all the front seven. |
| 3:56.0 | First up, though, Chris and Matisse, breaking down the mock drafts. |
| 4:00.3 | Chris, you know, as always, we're going. this episode jam-packed all the front seven first up though chris and matease breaking down the mock |
| 3:57.9 | drafts chris you know as always we're going over mock drafts so we did we issued a three-round mock |
| 4:04.4 | but before we get to ours we got to go to the most important evan and deuce have the mock draft |
| 4:08.9 | track so let me let me go through deuses real quick and then we'll react and go through evans |
| 4:13.8 | because they're both they're both different for different reasons. |
