Welcome to the Peter King Podcast. This week you're going to hear my entire conversation about 28-29 minutes worth with Patrick Mahomes, the Super Bowl MVP. I wrote about him in my column this week, a week after the Super Bowl, and I recorded our conversation

A couple of observations on Mahomes, I think as you will hear and as you've seen with him so far,

he's 24 years old. He's very careful and his he's not going to be a real

colorful interview or anything like that. He's going to answer the questions as best he can

without being you know very controversial but I think you'll learn a lot about

his approach to this game and about how he was able to come

back in the second half after basically in the fourth quarter after really having a lot of

shaky moments in his first 50 minutes. So you'll learn that and I'll also just say that in advance of you listening to this I think you

will enjoy how to me Patrick Mahomes was raised because I think he had a dad who was very very

in tune with making sure that everything about his upbringing, if he was ever going to play sports,

he was going to understand what it took and what kind of person and competitor you need to be to really succeed in

professional sports. So you'll hear about that. You'll hear some stories about the

Sioux Falls canaries and and about Alex Rodriguez and things like that. So I hope you

enjoy that conversation and we'll get to that in a minute.

But first, you know, I wanted to talk just for a few minutes about the XFL

and what happened in the first weekend of the XFL.

A little bit of history first.

I was at the first game ever in XFL history 19 years ago.

Obviously this is the second iteration of the XFL,

the first one, which opened a much pomp and circumstance

at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas in 2001. I was there covering the game for Sports Illustrated along with Lee Montville, the legendary writer from Boston.
