Today's story is a request from Patrick.

Patrick lives in a little town in the South Island of New Zealand called Wanaka.

It's a place where the lake is wide and deep.

The mountains are tall and snowy, and sometimes the mist carries mysteries.

I am Patrick.

I am seven years old.

I live in Wanaka, New Zealand, and I would like a story about a nice dinosaur who becomes friends with a capy

bar and they go exploring on a boat and find an island and the middle of the ocean.

Patrick was the kind of boy who noticed things, not big, noisy things.

He noticed small ones, like how the same bird sang outside his window every morning,

or how Lake Wanaka had a quiet sigh like it was breathing in its sleep,

or how one misty morning there was suddenly an island.

It wasn't there the day before, it wasn't on any map,

and when Patrick pointed it out at breakfast, his mom just smiled and said,

Bit of fog, love, just the lake playing tricks again. But Patrick knew what he saw. So the next morning,

before the sun had stretched its arms over the mountains, Patrick packed a sandwich,

grabbed his sketchbook, and rode his little boat into the mist. And there it was, the island,

covered in tall trees and thick vines, with birds circling above like they were guarding a secret.
