Brad speaks with Jonathan Krohn ahead of the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting. Jonathan is an investigative journalist and essayist whose work has appeared at Mother Jones, the Washington Post, and many other outlets. He also grew up in the SBC and was once considered a teenager star in the denomination. He will be covering the annual meeting for the New Republic. He and Brad discuss what he expects will happen at the convention. 0:29.4	I have an announcement about our show and about my future.
0:33.4	Some of you might have heard this on the weekly roundup last week,
0:35.9	but I've decided to step away from my position at Skidmore.
0:40.0	It's been a really difficult decision and one that I haven't taken lightly.
0:44.3	For those of you who are in the academic game,
0:46.1	you know that stepping away from a tenure track job is just not something is done very often.
0:51.8	And so you might be wondering why I'm doing that.
0:54.2	I'm doing it for a number of reasons.
0:56.2	My wife and I have been just talking and doing tons of soul searching.
1:00.3	And her career is really taking off and her career is really based out here in California.
1:06.0	We've prioritized my job for a long time.
1:09.1	Academia is a career that means moving around a lot and not really having control over where you live.
1:15.4	As a result, we've really had to kind of contour her pathway to my pathway.
1:22.6	Well, we've decided to prioritize what she's up to.
1:25.3	And part of the reason we're doing that now is that we're expecting our first child.
1:29.4	And so we just decided it was time to decide that we would kind of make our home out here in California
1:37.6	and allow her to pursue everything she's up to without having to worry about more moving or relocating
