Today we're going to be talking about the United Auto Workers,

organizing in the American South and what that means.

We're going to also be talking about a completely different organizing drive among journalists

in the United States and what those social impacts are.

Then in the last part of the first half of the program, we'll take a look at New York Governor

Hossil's decision to deploy National Guard troops in New York City

subways.

The second half of the show is a fascinating interview with a New York psychotherapist

Tessfrod Wolf about the relationship between patriarchy on the one hand and capitalism on the other. I think you'll find it a program worth

listening to. So let's jump right in. The United Auto Workers achieved historic contracts with the big three automakers,

General Motors, Ford, Stilantis, last year, with wage increases in the range of 30 to 40 percent

excuse me over the life of that contracts. It showed what labor can do if it's well organized, if it has a

strategic plan, and if it has a committed union leadership and membership, all of which UAW displayed.

And so they have decided to take their show on the road,

to go particularly to the American south where there are major

auto plants that have never been organized into a union. And they are achieving initial success, and I want to talk about it,

explain it, and show you why it matters.
