Do the unwelcome riders ever target the same car twice?

There are stories of multiple run-ins with the unwelcome riders, though their veracity is often unclear.

During the Beat generation in particular, a few writers associated with the movement would claim

while hitchhiking that the unwelcome riders would appear almost any time they were in a car.

I believe spread across all of Jack Kerouac's works alone. There's no

less than 14 encounters with various unwelcome rider families from across the country,

including on roads no other encounter

has ever been recorded.

That said, just because there's many false tales floating around doesn't mean all such cases are fraudulent.

Studs Turkle in his book, The American Road and Arral History devotes a chapter to supernatural

tales of our nation's highways. One woman he interviewed by the name of Mary Beth Williams claimed the Enduring Farmlands

Byway family of unwelcome riders in Georgia materialized in her car on a few occasions.

Her story has terrifying implications if true.

In 1982 Mary Beth, her husband and two children were out for a drive.

A single unwelcome rider appeared in the backseat between the children.

The car veered off the road as Mary Beth's husband who was driving attempted to pull his children away from the creature.

Mary Beth told Turkel her husband screamed at the thing, at his children to get away from it. The creature in turn grew

angry at the shouting. It latched onto the children and Mary Beth's husband, and then all but Mary Beth

disappeared from the vehicle.

After her family's abduction, Mary Beth avoided the enduring farmlands byway,

but four months after the traumatic event, she was forced to drive that same road again for an important errand.
