It was a wonderful, it was a clinical study into LSD and it was asking not only how LSD

passes through your body and is metabolised and what that curve might look like, time curve,

but also it recruited scientists and mathematicians and engineers to see what would happen to

the problem solving ability of scientists, mathematicians and engineers when they were on LSD.

They could help solve, could this help solve problems, but I signed up to it because I saw

there was a poster in the tea room in my department at university and it said do you have a meaningful

problem that needs solving?

No, is that what it was?

I thought, yeah, I definitely, I'm plenty and so I called the number.

I called the number, I think this is very, I mean it was sort of sweet and I behaved

you, I like it, but I know it's what you do that, I didn't know if I did it today but I

did it then and I'm grateful that I did because it was this LSD study and so then I was in

the hospital being given LSD and the researchers were, you know, they had to be really considerate

because it's not lying around in a hospital bed in a hospital ward room is not the place

that you first used to be when you were having a second LSD.

And so they'd hung hangings on the walls, they'd have moved music and moved lights and I was

enormously grateful for all of these efforts to declinitalyze the setting but it was quite

funny at some point during my trip to see this thin veneer on top of what was still clearly

a hospital room and it filmed me with affection for the researchers and also, you know, amusement

at this whole process which was, which was quite funny because the techniques of modern

science which were about objectifying, looking at things from the outside were being turned
