Hello everyone and welcome. the History of the Great War Premium episode number 15.

This will be the first of a two-part series, discussing the experiences of those under the occupation of the Germans during the war.

This episode will cover the occupation in the west, where Belgium and Northern France came under the

control of the German occupiers. The second episode of the series will discuss the occupation of the lands in the east, as Germany and Austria-Hungary occupied vast swaths of formerly Russian territory.

By the end of 1916, the Germans that occupied hundreds of thousands of square kilometers

of land.

One of my sources puts it at 525,000, although I don't have any verification on that.
