Summary

We talked a little bit about Nigerian weddings in one of our episodes and we had a listener ask us to talk more about it and we did.

In this bonus episode, which we did earlier in the year, Tayne and Ade speak about their culture as Nigerians, specifically about Nigerian weddings. We walk you through the many and various steps required, before getting to the actual wedding(s).

We talk about the size and how we had both been at two Nigerian weddings but never actually met each other until years after. We also touch on the expectations of being a bridesmaid in a Nigerian wedding and how much work is involved.

After all said and done, we let you know how Nigerian weddings are the fun-nest weddings (no bias, of course!) and everyone should attend one in their lifetime.

Welcome, welcome. Welcome to our Nigerian wedding bonus episode. Yay! This is going to be a very unique podcast for us. I think we're going to have to

0:23.8

talk about ourselves more than we ever have before. Yeah, that's good. Which is not bad.

0:29.5

Yeah. It's always a good thing for people to get to know us more. I mean, they listen weekly,

0:35.7

we hope. So, you know. Thank you to Alicia for suggesting this.

0:41.9

Because it is something I think we will enjoy talking about because we're going to educate you guys who are

0:46.7

not Nigerian and also get to rag on our own people. And nothing makes Nigerians happier than

0:54.1

criticizing our fellow Nigerians.

0:57.1

I know. And it's one of those things where it's like your family, you can talk about it,

but anybody else does it, I'll fight you. Exactly.

1:07.9

So a big part of the Tane and Aid origin story has to do with weddings.

1:13.9

I, for the first time I believe I met Tain was at my sister's wedding when I was a

1:19.4

bridesmaid. No recollection. Four months later, my sister was in a wedding with Tain. They

1:25.5

were both bridesmaids at a wedding, but I was at no recollection.

1:30.5

There's no recollection because we never met. Like, surely we were in the same place, but we didn't

1:38.5

like say hello, hey, how are you? Then seven years later, through serendipity, we reconnected or connected for the first time yeah we're

1:47.9

2:10.8

and I posted in the reality TV book group I had a ticket to something and I was like, hey, does anybody want to go with me? And then I'll let Tane take over the story from here. Well, I mean, it was just kind of odd because I was like, I know of her, but I don't know her, but should I just say, I want to go? Is that creepy? But I'm friends with her brother-in-law and sister.

2:34.9

So I went to ask her brother-in-law, can I just say it was just weird?
