I see you draped in wet bed sheets, you undressed dentists. Welcome to the blind-by-podcast.

0:07.6

If you're a new listener, go back to some earlier podcasts and if you're a regular listener,

0:13.1

you know the crack, you know the ritual. So this week's podcast was supposed to be something

0:19.3

else. But now it's not something else. Now it's something different.

0:27.4

So I tried to record today's podcast several times today and I couldn't because there was

0:39.5

a lot of background noise. Now my general rule with background noise when I'm recording

0:44.8

this podcast is we'd have my squeaky chair every so often the other time you might hear

0:51.1

a car. But what I can't, what I can't tolerate is any sound that's alarming, you know? Like,

1:01.0

she's I've got a podcast from about two years ago called Paul Dr. Goyste of a builder where

1:07.5

my fire alarms started going off and I had to I had to bust it open with a Harley. It was a

1:14.7

fucking saga. I had to bust it open with a Harley. Then another podcast that was interrupted

1:20.4

by an aggressive cat, a very aggressive cat, my own cat, Sid Contamis, when I found out

1:27.6

he was deaf. So those are sounds I can't allow into this space. If I've got a fire alarm,

1:34.7

a screaming cat, these are not relaxing sounds. These are sounds that are designed to induce

1:44.0

anxiety. I mean, I mean a smoke alarm. Like the particular smoke alarm that interrupted

1:48.9

this podcast two years ago, it wasn't even the smoke alarm going off to tell me that

1:54.7

there's smoke or a fire. It was the please change my battery alarm, which is much worse

2:01.0

because it's judgmental. It's pointing a finger. A smoke alarm is like, there's some smoke.

2:07.4

I'm trying to keep you safe. I'm not saying you cause the smoke. It's most likely an accident,

2:12.2

but can you deal with it please? And it's also predictable. It's just like beep beep beep beep.

2:17.4

You could actually get used to a smoke alarm. You could leave it there and deal with it,

2:22.4

but the change my battery sound. That doesn't follow a pattern. It beeps once every two minutes
