Welcome back to the next picture show, a movie the week podcast devoted to a classic film

the way it shaped our thoughts on a recent release. I'm Scott Tobias here again with

Kate Phipps and Tosh Robinson. In our last episode, we discussed a history of violence,

David Cronenberg's unconventional thriller about a Midwestern marriage that's thrown into turmoil

when the husband's dark past suddenly resurfaces.

There's a similar form of upheaval at play in Christopher Borgley's provocative new movie,

the drama, but the violence is more theoretical and the turmoil happens before the central

characters are even married. Now, at this point, I will be revealing the premise of the drama,

which the distributor A24 tried very hard to keep under wraps, resulting in a lot of creative reviews that talked around the most basic aspects of the film.
