that Congress swiftly pass legislation that has been sponsored by him,

Tina Smith, and a bunch of other Democrats. It's called the Social Security

Expansion Act. And what the Social Security Expansion Act would do is, first of all, it would make Social Security solvent for the next 75 years.

It solves all the problems with the system.

Second, it gives every person on Social Security

a $2,400 a year raise,

which would make a huge difference for the one in four seniors who are living on less than $15,000 a year

less than $30,000 a year. It would apply the Social Security payroll tax

to everybody. In other words, the billionaires would start paying social security

taxes just like you and i do and it applies it to all income not just you know ten ninety nine

income but you know most of your billionaires don't take a paycheck

that's why they don't pay income taxes

instead they get they get their money through capital gains and dividends and

in fact in many cases they live off borrowed money.

So what Bernie is saying is, hey let's let's put Social Security tax on capital gains

income and on dividend income. It's income. It's money coming into a household.

Just because somebody is making their money with money,

does it, you know, obviously one person's making their money by being a plumber and they pay 6% of their income
