It's to no avail, I know unfortunately that these two have the capacity to grow much faster

and longer than can be offset by anything we could imagine to do over here.

And it's for that reason that CO2 is still continuing to grow everywhere.

Global problems affect everybody and they require everybody to act in concert for their solution.

There's no way Santa Fe people are going to prevent climate change.

Universal problems are ones which affect everybody but you can actually do something here.

You could quit over pumping your groundwater here without having China quit over pumping

its groundwater.

So I'm saying focus on the universal problems because there's where you actually have some

leverage.

You know, we're talking about problems which are going to manifest very soon.

And you're engaged in a process which somehow imagines you know that 50 or 60 years from now

we got to get ourselves into a different state.

You need to get yourself into a different state five or 10 years from now, maximum.

If we want energy to be relatively available in the country, we need to make it relatively less available

now by taxes or quotas or something.

The thrust of change, certainly in the west, over the last, since the Second World War and

even prior to that, has been to put more and more reliance on the market, so-called the

market, for making these allocational decisions.

It's worked fine for the rich because they are able to place high demands on the system

and get what they want.

It hasn't worked very well for the poor.
