Hello and welcome everyone this is Eric you're listening to the med geeks

podcast today is part two of our discussion on pulmonary embolism if you haven't

0:09.1

listened to part one go back and check that out that's where we talked about

0:12.0

the pathoph physiology and the presentation of PEs.

0:15.6

Today we're focusing more on the actual workup of pulmonary embolism and how we're going to

0:19.7

manage these patients as well.

0:21.7

We're going to get right into it so without further ado

0:24.0

0:45.0

discussion hopefully will clarify the workup for the patients in whom we are

0:48.4

1:01.4

be ordering things like a BMP potentially depending on the scenario.

1:06.4

1:10.8

on PE.

1:11.8

What's going to be helpful for the PE. So for example, if you're working

1:15.2

up a PE, you may also be ordering a Treponin. The Treponin doesn't really help you decide whether

1:20.7

or not it's a PE specifically.

1:22.6

That would be more towards the ACS side of things,

1:25.2

but it might still be ordered on the same patient.

1:27.4

In other words, we're not going to be

1:29.2

talking about how to work up a complaint today,
