All right, I promised you that today we were going to move on in

1st Peter Chapter 3 and look at the ways in which husbands are to live in a submissive way.

Now the interesting thing about the way Peter goes about this is he brings up what I think are some of the most difficult ways for

wives and now husbands to apply this context of submission that he is carrying over from chapter 2.

Now remember when Peter wrote this there were no chapters, there were no verses.

This was just a long letter that he wrote to people and so contextually he has been speaking about how believers are to show up in the world and then he's digging into the specific roles that believers might find themselves in and how this issue of submission like Jesus looks in those roles.

In verse 7, he begins talking about how it looks for a husband to be submissive.

And let's just read the verse, and we'll come back and talk about it.
