My name is Mark Krikorian Executive Director of the Center.

And this week we have with us George Fishman, one of our top legal eagles. And we're going to be talking about something

that's been in the news with regard to the anti-ice riots in Los Angeles. And that's specifically

something called the Insurrection Act. This is

authorization for the president to use troops or National Guard in certain situations. And the

question here is, you know, does the president have the authority to do this? Is it a good

idea for him to do? What would troops do? What are they doing now? The ones he's already sent?

And George has written a good deal on this issue of the Insurrection Act. And so I thought it would be good to kind of have a, you know, sort of a 101 introduction to what the Insurrection Act is, how it's being used, and how it can be used.
