Has written a new book, Family Unfriendly, How Our Culture Made Raising Kids Much Harder Than It Needs to Be.

And I want to ask him all about it.

I was excited to read this one, although I did not follow your instructions properly, and I have not banished my children for a long enough time to finish it yet.

But I do love that it opens with like, grab a beer and tell your children to go somewhere

else so you can read this book.

And only let them back in if they're bleeding or really, really hungry.

It is.

That's the way I was raised.

And it's something that we attempt to do as parents.

But tell me about where the idea for this book came from.

I love the philosophy.

I love the idea of it.

Where was it birthed?

Probably while my wife and I were escaping our children during the lockdowns in 2020. So we were,

you know, fake homeschooling our kids. Thankfully, we realized partway through that they weren't going to

learn very much anyway because we didn't know how to homeschool them. So we left them run a little
