So this book is written as a novel and is fiction. But Evelyn has extensive knowledge of the

near-death experience phenomena and this description is not an actual NDE but an example drawing

from many near-death experiences.

We join this near-death experience description part way through.

At the very moment I realize that I cannot help my parents, I'm sucked into a dark tunnel.

An immense force is pulling me upwards at a dizzy speed which gets

faster and faster. It is perhaps the speed of a rocket going towards the moon, or maybe even

faster than that. I'm not running. I'm not floating. It is rather as though I was flowing,

but upwards.

I experienced the feeling of absolute freedom, liberated from the constraints of a physical body that we have to carry around with us all the time on earth.

I'm free, I'm happy, I'm well, and I'm not at all frightened.

I travel over great distances in a few hundreds of a second,

or perhaps it is outside time.

There seem to be various presences around me, but I cannot see anyone.
