This is episode 139 of paranormal stories.

This episode I'm reading from Douglas Hodgson's book, Near Death Experiences and Sacred Scripture,

the parallel messaging. When I have guests on my podcasts, I read their books to work out

questions for the episodes. And when reading these books, I always find such fascinating information

that never makes it into the podcast. And here I get a chance to give you a peek into the book.

I have put a link to the book in the show notes, and I did seek permission to record this extract, and the author kindly said yes.

So I'm going to read from chapter three, which is titled Heavens, A Glimpse Thereof, and this is

what Douglas has written. Most of us have pondered at some point in our lives what heaven must be like,

or, indeed, whether heaven exists at all beyond the realm of mythology.

Such a place or concept is mentioned in the scripture of most mainstream religions,

but, by and large, with some notable exceptions reference below,

it is not described in any vivid or graphic detail.

Some scriptural passages refer to heaven in the singular sense, implying that there is only

one heaven. Other scriptural passages refer to the plural heavens, indicating multiple heavens.

Some religions like Islam and Jainism, for example, refer to multiple or ascending or layered heavens.

Many, but not all, of those who have undergone a near-death experience, do report that they found themselves in heaven, or at least

at the threshold or boundary of heaven, from where they could get a close glimpse of what lay

beyond the veil, the fence, the door, the archway, the stream, the pond, or other forms

of barrier between earthly life and heaven. The individual author descriptions of what they perceived do not corroborate each other in

many respects, as will become apparent in the following observations taken directly from the

Irons' near-death experience accounts.
