The following episode is about to talk about adult themes, so maybe not the best for

family listening, including my family, please don't listen to this one mom and dad.

Okay, that's a warning.

The most obvious aspect of clothing is that it is, by and large, made of cloth.

And whether that cloth is animal, vegetable, or chemical, it's usually treated in much

the same way.

It's sewn together with needle and thread.

It can be hemmed and adjusted.

It can be laundered.

It can be patched.

That is what we expect from clothing made of cloth.

But I want to examine two big exceptions to all the rules of clothing.

Two materials that are not clothed.

And the first material admittedly was a fad.

But in its time, it was a bigger deal than I could have ever fathomed.

Browns gather outside a department store in New York for a combination fashion show and

cocktail party held in the store's front window.

The fashions are all made of paper.

Yeah, paper clothes.

King-size earrings top a teardress of huge ruffles.

Careful where you put your cigarette ashes, that's tinder, kindered.

A paper evening gown needs repairs, no needle and thread, scotch tape.
