Hi, I'm Casey, and I'm an alcoholic.

Hi, I'm a kid.

I'm honored to be asked to speak on a panel at Iggy Paw, and I'm really nervous and I'm cold, and I've had coffee, so shaking a little bit.

And I'll probably get really comfortable about 17 minutes into this.

Look at the time.

So when I was asked to speak on principles before personalities, I was like, oh, I hope they don't announce that at my YPA group.

And I thought people might start laughing or go, really?

But, you know, what I can say is actually principles before personalities has been a big part of this of the last year of my

sobriety um so i figured i would touch just a little bit on the tradition itself i'm not

you know incredibly well versed on the history of it but um you know what i what i do know is um you know the the 12th tradition started out uh more as

the anonymity was to protect the um

um

a in the sense that they didn't have enough people to, you know, reach out to all the alcoholics.

So they wanted to, you know, keep it, keep it quiet.

And then it became part of the public eye.

And when AA started, you know, getting attention, so nobody was an authority on it.

Nobody was more important than another.

And then eventually evolved into keeping AA attractive to the public so that people
