0:39.4	Today I'm talking with Laura, a mom of two from California.
0:43.3	Laura, tell us about your family,
0:44.9	including your kids ages and what you do for a living.
0:48.0	Yeah, so I live in California, more specifically the Bay Area. I have two kids, a two-year-old son and an eight-month-old daughter, and I am a respiratory therapist,
1:00.8	have been for about nine years. Can't believe it's been that long.
1:05.0	Yeah, can you tell me what a respiratory therapist is and does because I admit it sounds real relevant to what we're going through right now but I didn't know what that was.
1:13.6	Yeah and I think a lot of people didn't know what it was kind of before this pandemic.
1:18.4	I didn't know what it was before I went to school to be honest.
1:21.6	So basically what our job entails is we are very specialized.
1:27.2	Kind of our bread and butter is cardiopulmonary. Not really diagnostics because that's up to the doctors but we do a lot of like
1:36.5	breathing treatments we run the ventilators in the ICU okay and we help basically set those up, get people comfortable in the settings, and basically manage the
1:48.7	duration of their time on the ventilator.
