Welcome to slow more. My guest today was introduced to me by my dear friend Emma Gunnon, who was my guest here on Slomo in episode 112 back in April and she spoke about her new book

Olive if you remember and where she was so ill-inkently referring to the idea of being childless and the choice that she personally

made and sort of portrayed in the character of Olive as a woman that makes that choice to not have children consciously.

And I think it was an episode that actually opened the eyes of a lot of women,

maybe not on the exact topic, but the idea of being able to make their own choices of how they want to make decisions around their own lives without the pressure of society in general.

Of course, Emmas Olive then went to become a bestseller and did really, really well.

Emma was kind enough to introduce me to Pamela Paul and Pamela probably has one of the best jobs on the planet I believe.

She is the editor of the New York Times Book Review, which basically means that she oversees

all the book coverage at the New York Times and she's the

host of the weekly book review podcast for the Times. She may not be reading all those

books but to be in charge of what the public gets to know

about the books of the year and of course the New York Times reviews are

definitely some of the most important reviews probably anywhere in the world. are definitely an incredible responsibility and amazing job to be doing but that's if you want

her day job her passion and other job if you want her day job. Her passion and other job if you want is she's an author and editor of seven books.
