I started out on the street a complete unknown in a brand new town with a new name living

as somebody completely different from months at a time and you get to know people and you start to work your way through.

So you're given your target list and you usually don't meet those targets right away because

you're meeting the people that work at the grocery store, you're meeting the people at the laundromat,

and you're becoming known and you're getting to know people. And you really start to see things and you start to

identify what's going on. But the object of the job, at least how I interpreted my role, was not to go in and to get as many bodies or make as many arrests as possible.

It was to gather as much intel and if there are people that are dealing drugs and

breaking the law and committing violent assaults and all of the things that go along

with the culture that that's my job.

and we always had to have more than one buy.

It's not like you do a buy and bust.
