Okay, our first question.

As a Jew, what can I do to bridge the divide between our communities?

First and foremost, thank you very much for showing up.

Can we have a round of applause for the non-Muslims and this person in our audience?

The very fact that you are here is

building bridges and firstly I want to speak to the Muslims directly. All too often in our frustration at what's

happening in Israel, we do say and do things that are un-Islamic.

And our anger towards Israel very frequently

becomes anti-Semitic.

It does.

We have to be clear in this regard. We should not be saying

the Jews do this, the Jews do that. If you have a criticism, be specific.

Israeli policy such and such.

Of course, theologically, we have our disagreements with Jewish theology, Christian theology, we

can discuss that in interfaith. But historically we have never had an

animosity with Judaism as a religion. Fact of the matter I gave a lecture two weeks

ago is online the history of Jews and Islam.

Every single time Christianity persecuted Jews.

The Muslim ome, the Jilafa, welcomed them. And that is why before the creation of Israel,

some of the largest population of Jews were in Muslim lands.
