Hello, this is Simon Mann in Maltan where the second test between Pakistan and England

starts at 5am UK time tomorrow morning. Test match special will be on air at 4.25 on

5 live sports extra and BBC Sounds to bring you the toss. We've moved 330 miles southwest

from Islamabad, the scene of England's sensational victory in the first test. We took the scenic

route an 8 hour drive through stunning hills and then along the plains to Maltan while

the players flew although they were held up by fog for several hours. Maltan is a city of

nearly 2 million on the right bank of the Chinab river and we're in the southern Punjab.

There's only hosted 5 test matches this year and all this century and only one since England's

dramatic 22 run defeat here in 2005 but not one in December when the days are short and

the weather is cool at night. With me to look ahead is the BBC's cricket correspondent

Jonathan Agnew and two more members of the test match special team Alex Hartley and

our teeth and noirs. Well here we go again not much time for the players to recover

from a gruelling game in Raul Pindy England in the field for 252 overs.

It won't bother them looking at the way they practiced today and talking to Ben Stokes

and they're very chipper. To come here one nil up is a terrific position they couldn't

really dreamt of that. They are going to have the battle against the elements again.

No one here we are early afternoons we chat now here and the mist really hasn't really

lifted and if you take that into account the Friday start of course with the excellent

lunch for Friday prayers again you feel they're going to be up against the clock but that

won't bother them they'll give it a go. There will be no sitting back on that one nil
