The Pakistani government says he leaked state secrets. He says it's a joke.

Once again Imran Khan, Pakistan's former Prime Minister is making headlines after being sentenced to 10 years in jail.

Imran Khan has been in prison since last August after being convicted on corruption charges

and the latest case took place behind closed doors in a prison in Ralpindi.

He denies any wrongdoing and his lawyers say the trial was unconstitutional.

His political party, the PTI, says it will appeal against the verdict.

I asked her correspondent in Islamabad Caroline Davis about the case.

So this has been referred to as the Saifah case.

It relates to his appearance at a rally in March of 2022, which was a month

before he was ousted from power in a vote of no confidence. Now, Mr. Khan appeared on stage

waving a piece of paper that he said showed a foreign conspiracy against him.
