Expand your space without renovating.

Hi, I'm Anita Joyce here with Kelly Wilkins, and this is Decorating Tips and Tricks.

Today we are talking about painting tricks designers use, and there are so many things that you can do with paint that really, for example, make your room look much bigger. It really is amazing, Kelly, how something as small as paint can change how large

the room feels. Oh, it can change the room in so many ways. Paint is the most powerful design

tool that we have. certainly one that you can

get for, you know, $60 to $100 a gallon, and you can use it strategically and make a room look bigger,

as you're saying, make it look more lux, make it look more designed. So we have so many great tips today. My first tip would be either really learn how to

paint and be willing to put in the time for the prep and the painting or hire an excellent

painter because it is a skill. A lot of people think it isn't, but it is truly a skill.

And if you're talking about maybe painting your garage walls or something like that, that's one

thing. But what we're talking about today is painting tricks that designers use. So you need

to have the skill or hire someone who has it.

That's right.

So the first tip is to choose light, soft neutrals to make a room look larger.

And I know that you and I kind of love a very neutral color on the wall.

I also like deep, rich colors as well.
