My guest this week on the Sav painter podcast is the artist Tom Hughes.

Tom and I talk about his early days at the Christian Science Monitor where he did

illustrations for newspapers and his revelation that he should become an artist.

Tom and I also get into the nitty gritty of how he creates a painting.

I mean, I make him detail it out down to the fact that he uses a

number six and a number nine pencil when he goes out to sketch. We had a lot of fun in this conversation.

Tom paints with just about everything except for pastels,

doesn't really like the texture, I guess.

But we go into detail about oil painting, watercolor painting, how he likes to create paintings from his sketchbook, and what difference that makes to him, whether it is a painting that he has created out of the sketchbook or that he does in his studio and

why he doesn't really like painting with watercolors in his studio.
