it fulfilled in other ways, which ended up being drinking, partying.

Yeah. holding. Hi, this is Meredith Foster. When we're living in dysfunction, many times we don't know it,

no matter how unhealthy, it may be all we've ever experienced, so it seems normal. Lauren Banach had grown up with

some broken relationships, particularly with the men in her life. Without even realizing it,

she was searching for something, something that would make her feel loved and honored, respected.

But how can you find that in the midst of dysfunction? A word of caution about this episode,

it involves some mature content, things which are really hard to hear, especially if you've

experienced sexual abuse. I know we have a lot of teen and preteen listeners. Parents, you

might want to listen to the story first and then decide if it's appropriate for your kids.

So my parents divorced when I was three years old and they did quickly get remarried, but that left me just kind of seeing my father

for a couple of times a week. So we did have, we had visitation with him, but it was very, very sporadic. And through my childhood

years, we would go visit his hometown where my grandma and grandpa lived, where his parents were.

We'd go back there usually for the summer. And that's where my grandpa, over the years,

ended up molesting me, molesting my sister and some of my cousins as well.
