My dad would turn around, look at my sisters, and I and says, okay, we're at church, pull

your sleeves down, hide the bruises, and put a smile on.

It felt like this kind of prison that I couldn't let anybody into.

God's story has been unfolding.

Since the beginning of time.

Austin French grew up in church surrounded by believers and with a family heritage of

evangelists and church planners. But for a long

time, Austin hated Christians. His parents served on staff at their small Georgia church, and every

Sunday was an exercise in performing, pretending they were a happy family, while behind close doors,

everything was falling apart. Austin wanted nothing to do

with that kind of Christianity. Today, Austin is a successful singer and songwriter whose passion

is to introduce people to the real Jesus, who doesn't look for perfection and who loves

the broken. I grew up in South Georgia, Cordial, Georgia. My mom was a music teacher.

My dad was a worship pastor. My mom taught music in our living room growing up. We sang all the time.

I didn't know it wasn't normal, not to sing about everything until I realized like at school,

no one else sings potty songs but me you know like that
